The Social Whirl

On a sabbatical from Landsraad reprting, let me acquaint you with the goings-on, on and off Kaitain this past month.

The first week saw a lot of action in the capitol.  Milo Morai, House Moritani Swordmaster, escorted Zoe to Iron Bashars, where they held their own, impromptu iron bash and danced the night away.

 Bleys Evans of House Ordos and Lucille braved the grimly-named Inkvine and Lucille caused quite a stir by wearing a dress that revealed a thematically-appropriate temporary tattoo that went clear down to there.

 Scandal of the week, however, goes to Duke Adhemar Murena, who bravely wore his heart on his sleeve for all to see and publically proposed to Babette at the Heighliner.  Whereupon the lady proceeds to stake his poor heart through with her stiletto heel.  Understandably, the Duke was not amused and yours truly has to wonder if Babette might want to take a little whale-skinning vacation in the Outer Reaches sometime soon.
 
The middle of the month takes us off-planet to Marcinko, where Duke Pablo Osvaldo Ginaz held both his Coronotion and official funeral obsequies for his assassinated Father.  But, stars of space: where was Rachelle, the Duke's current companion?  Guests of interest included Marquise/Siridar-Countess Rheiyluanne Isabella Cenva and Vladimir, Atreides Mentat Rocab Prilo and Carlotta, Patricia Ginaz with Vir Molari (rumour has it, the hot couple of the month), and Houseless official Fallon, chaperoning his long-time companion Irulan.

 The obsequies were austere, grand and solemn, the coronation was gala and tastefully ostentatious.  The populace of Marcinko seems to genuinely love their new, young Duke, or at least knows on which side their bread is buttered: public demonstrations of affection were many.  The whole affair was a marvel of organisation, so much so that nothing scandalous or newsworthy or unexpected happened at all.

 The Duke made a good speech indicating that he would lead House Ginaz into a bright and prosperous future, while maintaining the ancient and universally-approved traditions of the past.

The month ended somewhat more sombrely at the Heighliner, with Duke Adhemar Murena there-- alone.  Ow.

Rocab Prilo hosted a party at Club Semuta, but apparently figured that Carlotta had had a nice enough time off-planet, because he didn't bring her!  Attending were the newly-engaged Douglas Minnesota of House Atreides and Paola of House Ginaz.  A match that speaks of as much politics as passion, perhaps?  Vir Molari  and Patricia Ginaz, just back from Marcinko and the coronation, also showed up.  In addition to the ambience of the club, Swordmaster Minnesota livened up proceedings by playing his baliset, though not Semuta music, thankfully!
